To Annie’s granddaughter, Mom Body, who midwifed in Simpson County, Kentucky in the 1940’s and 50’s, thank you for surviving.

To my great great grandmother Melvina, who was bought out of slavery by my great great grandfather, thank you for surviving.

To my great great great grandmother Mary who served as a governess in Frankfort, Kentucky in the early 1900’s, thank you for surviving.

To my mother Gail, who was born into enforced segregation under Jim Crow laws and would later become the CEO of a national company, thank you for surviving.

To all my female ancestors, thank you for being the epitome of perseverance.

Signing off on an endeavor much bigger than myself

Signing off on an endeavor much bigger than myself… this is for my legacy.

It’s taken years to get to this moment but with the gift of perseverance and God’s constant presence, another good work is done!

The year of 2022 was a season of completion for me. In reflection, I stretched myself more than I realized at the time. From shifting goals to victories and obstacles to triumphs in multiple areas of my life, I exceeded what I thought was possible for me alone to achieve over the course of a single year. It required me to be OK with saying “no” or “not now” to other goals or opportunities in order to gain the wins I experienced. A season such as this doesn’t come without challenges and heartache but I’ll always choose to weather the storm in pursuit of my goals over not taking risks.

I celebrate this season of completion and welcome everything I’m making room for in the days to come.

I'm happy to share that I received the prestigious Cox Automotive and NAMAD Rising Star Award. Finding the right time to announce the honor has been difficult because the day after the awards ceremony in December, a tornado devastated parts of my hometown and several other communities. We never know when we could be up one day and down the next so it's important to celebrate every victory. Today, on the day my father was born, I celebrate his legacy and the opportunity to share this special video that I produced and will forever cherish.

As a guest on Great Day Live and Good Day Dayton, I had the honor to share what the Martin Automotive Engagement Grant means to my family.

Harley-Davidson Louisville, BMW Motorcycles of Louisville, Subaru of Dayton, Kia of Dayton, Kia of Beavercreek, Nashville Subaru and Downtown Hyundai are furthering their community commitment by extending the $50,000 grant to local nonprofits. To be eligible, organizations must promote social justice, education and entrepreneurial initiatives and directly benefit residents in Louisville, Kentucky, Dayton, Ohio or Nashville, Tennessee. Grant requests can range from $5,000 up to $25,000. Applications will be accepted until 9pm EST on June 30, 2022.
